Fly Eye(s)

My offspring found this insect on our car and knew it was the kind of creature I might like to try to take a picture of.  What struck me the most was the size of the "eyes" and then the clarity of the golden wings in this shot.  What a face!

Lily Brain?

We kayaked in a pond where we have done so for the last almost 20 years, and saw something new to us!  Where there are waterlilies growing, we saw grayish blobs floating just under the surface.  When we got closer, we realized they were attached to the lily stems on one side.  If we touched them they dropped and then floated back up.  They felt slimy in the same way as the underside of the lily pads.  They have convolutions just like a brain.  Wild!!

Whale Sparkles and Textures

We went on a whale watch and saw multiple whales, including a mother and calf.  I was struck by form and texture in general, particularly the swaths of smooth and bumps.

Sunset in Historic Area

It was sundown after a storm and I was crossing the street, and there were these beautiful images at the green - people on the sidewalk just stopped and stared.

Artistic Beach Grass

My vacation doesn't start until I get in the ocean, and soon after I did that this year, I came upon this seagrass by the boardwalk, and something about the curve and the lighting and the texture of the seed heads grabbed my attention, so I snapped a few pictures.  We all really liked the way this one came out.
