Frost art

These frosts were on the storm window in my study as we awaited a big storm. They reminded me of some of the art I saw when I visited China, the beautiful brush strokes capturing nature.

I have been loving taking walks near home and in particular ripples on the water. These reflections of fall color in the ripples in the bright sun look so much like abstract paintings!

We visited the Audobon society many times this summer, and at one point saw many Egrets. After snapping lots of shots from a distance and not sure what would come out, I saw this one of an Egret backlit in flight which just so beautifully - and surprisingly to this lay person - illustrated how small the bird body is vs the total area we see including feathers.
Here they are just sitting, and also just a seagull in flight I liked.

Until this morning I had never seen a grasshopper with its legs draped over the edge of anything. Turns out you can always see something new even where you have been for many years. I saw it when I went out to check my minimal and overgrown garden, spoke to it saying "I am going to go get my camera, you probably won't be here when I get back, but we'll see.." And so on the way back with the camera I started taking pictures from a bit of a distance. I hadn't noticed that positioning until I looked at the photos I had taken.

My aunt died last summer, and one of the things I received from her home is a clear plastic angled sculpture which refracts sunlight, throwing rainbow patches all over our living room and kitchen area. They change position as the sun moves throughout the day. This morning I saw one had landed on our wedding bouquet, which we had dried and framed. We just loved how this looked.
