The Laughing Rooster

Once upon a time, there was a rooster who couldn’t crow.  He started to crow, but then he just broke down laughing every time.  He started to feel badly about it, because he could hear the roosters at the other nearby farms doing real crows to wake up their farm animals and people, and he just didn’t feel like he was doing a good job.

But one day, as he was feeling particularly low, the pig said to him, “You know, I like waking up to a laugh. It makes me happy.”  That made the rooster feel a little better.

Then the cow piped up “Me, too!  And because I’m happy, my milk is sweeter.  It is sweeter than any other farm’s milk”

And the Goose piped up “I like waking up to a laugh, too.  It makes me laugh, and because I’m so giggly, my feathers are softer – softer than the feathers from any other farm.”

After that, the rooster was very encouraged. He started to do his whole wake-up call laughing - he didn’t even try to crow any more!  And the whole farm, including the rooster, woke up happy every day.
