These frosts were on the storm window inĀ my study as we awaited a big storm. They reminded me of some of the art I saw when I visited China, the beautiful brush strokes capturing nature.

My aunt died last summer, and one of the things I received from her home is a clear plastic angled sculpture which refracts sunlight, throwing rainbow patches all over our living room and kitchen area. They change position as the sun moves throughout the day. This morning I saw one had landed on our wedding bouquet, which we had dried and framed. We just loved how this looked.

Today I harvested our butternut squash, acorn squash, some new yellow beans and green beans, and three cucumbers. As soon as I saw the cucumbers under the leaves, I thought wow, that looks just like the skin of a whale, weathered by the sea and with barnacles on it!
